What is Bwiti?

A traditional framework

The Bwiti tradition is an ancestral spiritual path of self-knowledge originating in Gabon, Africa. It is a sacred science devoted to understanding the human being in all its dimensions: body, mind, and spirit.

Through Bwiti, one can heal, awaken, and rediscover his true nature and life purpose. This wisdom, carried by the ancestors, has been transmitted through generations for thousands of years, preserved in its pure form.

Modika

Therapist & Life Coach
Akiba's Founder

After years of searching without direction, Modika encountered the Bwiti tradition in 2016, marking the beginning of a profound process of self-understanding.
Today, he guides others through this work, grounded in his own experience.

"Akiba Traditional Therapies was born from my own journey, a safe space where I now offer the tools and experiences that helped me heal and transform my life."

Pindi

Nganga (Bwiti healer)

Born into a Bwiti tradition lineage, Pindi was initiated at the age of 7, marking the beginning of a lifelong path of learning, practice, and transmission.
Today, his work bridges tradition, experience, and deep inner knowledge.

"During our retreats, I guide you within a sacred space, where I provide you with the tools needed to explore your inner world and gradually break down, one by one, the walls of your unconscious."

Mabondo.jpeg

Mabondo

Mabundi (Sacred femenine)

Born and raised within the Bwiti tradition in Gabon, Mabondo carries a living transmission of ancestral knowledge.
Today, she accompanies women through rituals of reconnection, expression, and inner alignment.

"My intention is to transmit the wisdom of Bwiti in alignment with tradition, guiding each woman toward clarity, peace, and deep joy."

Authenticity

Our retreats are guided by a traditional Bwiti healer, to offer you an original ancestral ceremony preserved in its purest form.

We walk alongside you every step of the way, fully invested in your success, because when you succeed, we succeed.

4 Day Bwiti Iboga Retreat

A First Encounter with Iboga

The 4-Day Iboga Retreat offers a gentle yet profound introduction to the Bwiti tradition and the Iboga plant.

Through several one-on-one interviews with our Nganga, a series of rituals, and an Iboga ceremony enlivened by traditional music, songs, and dances, a safe and intentional framework is created for deep inner work. Each element is carefully designed to support your personal process and self-exploration.

The retreat takes place in a private villa surrounded by nature, providing a peaceful and grounding environment throughout the experience.

This retreat is ideal for those who wish to discover the tradition and understand how the plant works without committing to a full 10-day journey. It is a first taste, gentle in duration, yet profound in impact.

10 Day Bwiti Iboga Retreat

A Deeper Experience

The 10-Day Iboga Retreat is one of our most complete offerings, ideal for those seeking a deep immersion into themselves as well as into the Bwiti tradition and its sacred dynamics.

Inspired by the structure of a traditional initiation in Gabon, this retreat unfolds as a profound journey in three distinct phases:

1. The first phase focuses on the purification of body, mind, and spirit, carried out through a series of traditional plant-based treatments during the first days. These treatments prepare you for the deeper work to come.

A traditional consultation is also performed in this phase.
2. Once the body and inner space are ready, the Iboga ceremony takes place. This ceremony is longer and more intense than the one offered in the 4-day retreat, made possible by the work realized during the first phase.
3. The third phase is dedicated to integrating the insights and experiences gained during your inner journey. Through private sessions with our healers, we support you in leaving the retreat feeling clear, and with understanding.

Throughout the entire experience, you will not be a mere observer of the Bwiti tradition. You will be invited to actively participate in each ritual, becoming part of this living tradition and the transformative journey it offers.

10 Day Private Bwiti Retreat

An Exclusive Journey

The Private 10-Day Iboga Retreat follows the same program as our regular 10-day retreat, with one key difference: you receive the full, undivided attention of our team. Without other participants present, you are able to turn more deeply inward, free from external conversations or distractions.

This retreat is ideal for those who value privacy for professional reasons, for individuals seeking deeper self-connection, or for anyone desiring a highly personalized experience. It is also a perfect option for couples who wish to work on their relationship in a safe, intimate setting.

Like the regular 10-day retreat, the program unfolds in three phases. The first phase focuses on cleansing the physical, mental, and spiritual bodies. The second phase is dedicated to the Iboga ceremonies. The final phase supports your return to daily life, emphasizing grounding, reflection, and integration of the experience.

Drug Detox Iboga Therapy

A Powerful Tool against Addiction

This individualized therapy is designed for people struggling with severe addictions that have proven difficult to overcome, even after other treatments or therapeutic approaches.

It is a powerful, completely natural, plant-based process that supports deep physical detoxification while helping uncover and address the underlying causes behind addictive patterns.

The duration of the therapy varies according to the severity of the addiction, typically ranging from 8 to 14 days. The process is entirely one-on-one, and in certain cases, the presence of a trusted family member may be recommended to provide additional support.

The exact duration and conditions of the therapy are carefully determined by our team following a personalized assessment.

Whether you are seeking support in stepping away from heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines, benzodiazepines, other strong narcotics, or certain pharmaceutical medications, this retreat offers a comprehensive and deeply supportive approach to recovery.

Individual Consultation

A Place where to Start

The individual consultation consists of a video call with Pindi and Modika, during which you can openly discuss the challenges you are currently facing and explore how best to prepare for participation in one of our retreats.

There is no time limit for this session. You are given the space and time you need to speak freely about whatever may be weighing on you in your life.

These consultations are especially recommended for those who are unsure whether a retreat is the right step for them, as well as for those who would like an additional layer of preparation before attending a retreat.

Note: The individual consultations are not a requirement for participating in our retreats; This is not a traditional consultation like the ones offered in the 10 Day Bwiti Retreats.
